This is from the Catalyst West website. Its the first time in my life that I’ve been stylized. It looks like I have a really thick neck beard.

Tripp and I have the honor of co-hosting the event in April. I have no idea how it happened, but it did…and we’re freaking excited. Check out our intro video in the Emcee section of the site if you get a chance. It’s Tripp Crosby at his finest.

Worth It?

February 28th, 2009 - Games - 7 Comments »

big-boxSometimes humor can be expensive. Sometimes it requires a lot of planning. And sometimes you don’t even get to see the fruit of all your hard work. This could be one of those times.

I’ve been selling books on Amazon, and I’m trying to decide if it is worth an extra $8.25 to mail someone a book in this huge box. I’ll never get to see the reaction. I’ll never know if they got pissed, or confused, or if they ran and told everyone about this hilarious thing that just happened. It really doesn’t matter though. The real question, which guides most of my attempts at humor, is simple: “Does it make me laugh?”

I’m thinking its worth it. What do you think?

Brevity

I’ve been reading this blog lately where this guy communicates some really great stuff in 22 words or less. What I like about it is how he is able to be so eloquent and thought-provoking while still being brief. You’ve got to respect that. We’ve all gotten those emails that are so long you need a magnifying glass to even see the scroll bar on the side (the ones we all immediately delete – you know you do it too). Here is one of my favorite thoughts of his:

“I’m busy” is generally an acceptable excuse.
I think “I’m
not busy and want to keep it that way” should be too.

So, in that same spirit of brevity, I want to get a few thoughts down that I need to get off my chest. They need to be said, but they don’t deserve their own post.

In my experience, when someone starts a sentence with “did you hear the one about ___”, the end result is always a courtesy laugh.

“My bad” is the Dr. Thunder of apologies.

If you want someone to know you’re sarcastic, don’t tell them. That’s lame. Tell them you’re not sarcastic and, when they find out you are, all of you will appreciate your sarcasm.

39th Post!

tim-allenCan you believe it? I’ve been thinking a lot about ways to celebrate this momentous occasion. I thought about taking a stroll down memory lane and sharing what I believe are my top 37 posts of all time (Matt Damon didn’t make the cut), but my wife politely discouraged me from doing that. I then thought about throwing a huge Tim Allen tribute party (after all, my blog is dedicated to him), but the DVD player that I was planning on looping all of the Santa Clause movies on was broken.

So, here’s what I’m proposing instead. Let’s celebrate by getting more people involved in this 12-person blogging community. All you have to do is this. Go find one person and tell him that you couldn’t believe what I wrote about him on my blog. Then, when he comes here and doesn’t find any mention of his name, you can gently break it to him that we were just using him to boost my blog stats. Then we’ll all laugh, and laugh…and laugh…until he eventually forgets what we did, a la Jack Handy.

Sneak Preview

Here is a commercial for Renovation Realities on HGTV (the show we’re going to be on in a couple months). If you look closely, you can see me hitting my thumb with a hammer about 20 seconds into the video (which is, by far, the most cliche of all amateur mistakes).
