Brevity

I’ve been reading this blog lately where this guy communicates some really great stuff in 22 words or less. What I like about it is how he is able to be so eloquent and thought-provoking while still being brief. You’ve got to respect that. We’ve all gotten those emails that are so long you need a magnifying glass to even see the scroll bar on the side (the ones we all immediately delete – you know you do it too). Here is one of my favorite thoughts of his:

“I’m busy” is generally an acceptable excuse.
I think “I’m
not busy and want to keep it that way” should be too.

So, in that same spirit of brevity, I want to get a few thoughts down that I need to get off my chest. They need to be said, but they don’t deserve their own post.

In my experience, when someone starts a sentence with “did you hear the one about ___”, the end result is always a courtesy laugh.

“My bad” is the Dr. Thunder of apologies.

If you want someone to know you’re sarcastic, don’t tell them. That’s lame. Tell them you’re not sarcastic and, when they find out you are, all of you will appreciate your sarcasm.
