The Results Are In

Thanks for all the feedback to my Twitter question. After giving it some serious thought, I’ve decided that I’m going to do it. [Brief pause for judgmental sighs]. In the unlikely event that you’ll care, let me give you three reasons why I’m doing it (which are also the three reasons I think you should too):

twitter1

1. You Don’t Ask Honda Drivers about Driving Toyotas. I was asking non-Twitterers their thoughts on a product that they don’t even use. If I really want to know whether or not Twitter is worth it, I should ask people who are already using it. Thanks Blake, Aaron, and Tripp for helping me see the error in my ways. Twitterers really like Twitter. That says a lot.

2. Twitter = Facebook Status. Ironically, many of the people who told me to stay away from Twitter are also frequent status updaters on Facebook. Hmmm…

3. We’ll All Be Doing It. I remember just a few years ago I was having this very same internal debate about whether or not to join Facebook. A few years before that it was digital cameras. A few years before that it was the wheel. Why not be ahead of the curve?

Don’t worry, you won’t know when I’m eating sandwiches. And really, you don’t have to know anything unless you follow. Now, go join so I can follow you. We’ll have fun…

*Don’t read Tripp’s blog today.

I’ll wait awhile til you are more of a legit celebrity – in the secular world or Christendom.

  • Kyle

You told me to join and I did. I dont get it. Is it just a status like facebook?

  • Kyle

Also, I disobeyed you and went to Tripp’s blog. Wow… that is all

    tyler-

i love you, i love your good looking face, i love your above average body, but holy piss i couldn’t be less excited about twitter/facebook/texting/etc. i realize i’m one of those “non-twitterers” (are we really debating the validity of something called “twitter”?), but i have a 100% sincere concern that we are all becoming increasingly lazy and withdrawn in the way we relate to each other. i’m going to stubbornly cling to the old fashioned means of communicating-cell phones and email.

i not-so graciously decline. but keep in mind-i love you. just not the way you want me to.

i’m proud of you, grasshopper. you have chosen well. next step for you will be metrosexuality.

Tyler, this is a pretty awful sell job on Twitter. I feel like you can do better than that.

Tyler. You did the right thing.

Jon, you sound like an old baptist lady trying to prevent change.

Ev, Tyler just told me yesterday he’s going to start working on his new look.

Tyler, thank you for sending everyone to my blog today. I just bought 10secondsofzany.com. I have high hopes.

    Rebuttals to Tyler:

    1) You DO in fact tell Honda drivers that they SHOULD be driving Toyotas, or at least I do….Therefore, why would I twitter when I could NOT twitter?

    2) I don’t post Facebook status

    3) Close your eyes Tyler, this might hurt…I’ve heard the “We’ll all be doing it” line before….hmmm, where did I hear this? Oh yeah, Music Lounge…What else will we all be using, Palm Pilots?

Jon, I’m assuming you statement, “…old fashioned means of communicating-cell phones and email,” was your attempt at making a funny.

    • jon

…i know there’s at least one person out there thinking this…

yes, i am the king of hypocrites by POSTING my thoughts on being a communication snob.

consider my weblog comment a small effort to convert even one of you.

I guess I should proof my comments before hitting “submit comment” huh (your and not you…sorry)

Seems like I’m creating a new commentors category too, “The Back-to-Backer” – a commentor who seems to always post 2 comments back-to-back.

I agree Kyle – it’s stupid – don’t do it! Oh yeah, I forgot that you usually do the opposite of what I say. Oh well, happy twittering!
