The Best Sites on the Internet

June 10th, 2009 - Uncategorized - 26 Comments »

1. What are your favorite sites?
I (and the rest of us) want to hear what sites/blogs* you’re visiting on a regular basis. Some of my favorites are ones that I didn’t even know about a month ago. My hope in doing this is that we’d all be exposed to the best of what is out there. And feel free to shamelessly plug your own. The more comments the better!

I use Google Reader** so that all my favorite sites/blogs come to me, instead of me having to go check them all. Here are a few that I subscribe to and highly recommend:

ProBlogger
Awkward Family Photos
Tripp Crosby
Bryan Allain

Stuff Christians Like
FailBlog

Ben Arment

Kevin Keigley

Brad Lomenick

Best of YouTube

Today’s Best Thing

Josh LaFayette

Seth Godin

The Art of Nonconformity

2. The comments area is better.
Everyone who frequents this site knows that the comments section is the best part. Now, you can reply directly to specific comments and even rate the ones that you think are the best (with the classic thumbs up-thumbs down method, of course).

3. Unbelievable.
I had to share this. Here are some of the most random Google searches that have led people to my blog. No doubt they were disappointed when they got here.

Mr. Bean Baby, pee in swimsuit, 10 reasons I hate ginger, a game that gives you one million dollars, beard chest hair teen wolf, crosby banana beach 2009, cut off jean shorts how to, horrible horrible things, insecurity wearing hats, kenny chesney biceps fake, lotion people mall punched, way too tan thighs on a guy, you are one insecure dude

Now, don’t leave without telling us your favorite sites/blogs in the comments section!

*We all do email. Most of us do Facebook. Some of us use Twitter. Those aren’t really the sites we want to hear about. We want to know about the other stuff.
**For those of you who don’t understand Subscribing or RSS or Google Reader, watch this short video for a great explanation. It will revolutionize your life…seriously.

The Unofficial Apple Weblog (http://www.tuaw.com) – if you love Apple stuff, this is the place to keep up with everything.

http://www.slickdeals.net – they search the web to find absolutely amazing deals. yesterday, they had a panasonic 42" HDTV for $600. I bought 3 of them and resold them on craigslist for $800/each (that was a lie, but it would have been a cool story)

http://www.thebestofyoutube.com – they find the best 2-3 videos a day and post them here

  2. Mark says:

My favorite blog is my own. It is the best because I am the best. I'm sorry if that is a little too narcissistic for you, but there ain't no disguising the truth.

http://menwholooklikekennyrogers.com/ – Men who look like Kenny Rogers Dot Com… it is basically a website with photos of people who look like Elvis

http://www.geekologie.com/ – Geekologie is a blog about all things geeky and quirky, and I love the humour and commentary that the writer gives (although some is a bit rude)

  6. Vy Tran says:

Strobist – A lot of their fancy talk about lighting and camera equipment goes way over my head, but even for an amateur like me, there's a lot of valuable information there.

Engadget – Because I need my tech news fix.

    My favourite is…
    ww.hsjdkhff.org/gov-webtimes
That one is as real as it gets. It is so in your face. That clip with Willie Nelson and Oprah dancing is moving — especially at 1:43…that's when the lights faded and the music cranks. Golden.

Learn how to test those ideas you have about selling stuff or services online. Learn how you can outsource your company to someone in India that has an M.B.A for $5 an hour. Quite a bit of stuff on this website, and I don't recommend this to people that don't want to start their own online business. This website has been very beneficial to me and my business.

  16. http://www.google.com

It's like all the other websites in one. You just type words that describe what you're looking for and press "enter". Also, if you want certain words to be searched together, just put quotes around the words. For example, if I'm looking for wolf shirts, I would type "wolf shirts". Or if I'm looking for Street Fighter II cheat codes, only put quotes around part of it: "Street Fighter II" cheat codes.

Prepare to laugh your tushy off at the random stream of conciseness that seeps from her brain!
