1. Don Miller pimping my book…sort of. After we showed this video, Don came out on stage, held up my book, and told the audience “I was surprised to find Tyler’s book had so much porn in it.” Don, you had me at “Tyler’s book”.
2. Hanging out with Michael Jr. Michael is a comedian who has appeared on Leno, Jimmy Kimmel, and Comedy Central, among others. Tripp and I got to hang out with him for a while and pick his brain about comedy. He produced a documentary called Comedy: The Road Less Traveled, where he goes all across the nation bringing laughter to people who literally haven’t laughed in years – prisoners, abused children, HIV sufferers, homeless, etc. So inspiring.
3. We Aren’t the World. Tripp and I wrote a We Are the World parody that makes fun of Christian culture – “We aren’t the world, we are the Christians, we are the ones who leave the crappy tips on Sunday lunches…” Originally, it started out as some ridiculous thing Tripp and I were going to lead, but somehow we convinced all of the musicians there to sing with us on stage. I couldn’t be happier about how it turned out.
4. Getting attacked by a dog. Tripp and I had a competition to see who could outlast an attack dog the longest (while wearing this suit). There are mixed reviews as to who won, but luckily we have video footage. Coming soon…
5. Susan Isaacs. Before Catalyst, I knew of Susan as an author and as the lady in hot tub episode of Seinfeld. She was so much fun to hang out with and get advice from. Really hoping we can work together in the future.
6. Beach. The day after the event was over, the whole team got to hang out on this private beach in Crystal Cove all day. Unreal.
7. New batch of 5 Questions You’ve Never Been Asked. Finally got the nerve to ask Don Miller. He agreed. Also interviewed Susan Isaacs and Michael Jr., both of which were great. Don’s up this Saturday.
8. Defiling Acuff’s cardboard cutout. It takes a man with incredible self-control to not screw with a friend’s life-size cardboard cutout. Fortunately, I am not that man.
9. Selling out of my book! Whether or not it was a result of Don’s rousing endorsement, I’ll never know. What I do know is that I didn’t have a 3,000 mile walk of shame, lugging a big cardboard box of leftovers home with me.

Can we please have a video of We Aren’t the World?
Agreed
Amen!
Gosh – I love it all.
The Don Miller video is fantastic. (In fact, because of you I might just lift my ban on that guy and read another one of his books besides Blue Like Jazz. – And you can tell him that. Because I know he has been concerned about that one reader out there named Lacey who quit reading after Blue Like Jazz.)
Really, man.
I could not be more excited for you right now!
How could you possibly quit reading after Blue Like Jazz? total life changer for me.
Can't wait to see videos! Isn't Susan awesome? I'm thrilled that you got to meet her and work with her.
What about the cage match between Rob Bell and Rick Warren? I thought that was pretty cool.
