Arbitrary Thoughts

May 4th, 2010 - Uncategorized - 18 Comments »

+ Just subscribed to two new magazines, Fast Company and Wired. Their matte finish alone is worth the $12/year. Any others you recommend?

+ My 5 Questions You’ve Never Been Asked with Susan Isaacs will be going live this Saturday. You remember Susan.

+ Tripp posted a couple of our time travel videos from Catalyst on his blog this past week. If you haven’t seen them yet, watch them here and here. We’re big fans of the time travel dialogue.

+ My heart is still racing from the fight I just had with Wachovia customer service. I think the line that clinched the win for me was “I am already a SunTrust customer.” Feel free to use it.

+ I have all the results of the Almanac of Humor (you know, those questions I asked in the Reader Survey about funny things). I just don’t know what to do with them. Any ideas? I’m thinking either list them on the blog, or put them all in a PDF that you can download. Are there other options I’m just not thinking of?

+ We’ll be posting Organ Hero soon (another one of our videos from Catalyst). I’m really proud of how this one turned out.

+ I can’t get enough of Breaking Bad. Seriously, I think I have a mild addiction. If you’re going to check it out, make sure you start at the beginning. It’s one of those shows.

+ Tripp and I are starting an audio podcast. More on that later…

+ My book is $8.63 on Amazon right now. Or you can get it used from some joker for $14.18.

So, it’s arbitrary thought time in the comments. Let’s hear what’s on your mind.

Didn’t Wacovia buy SunTrust 4-5 years ago? I think they did.

    Arbitrary thoughts:
    - I enjoyed the video you and Tripp did with Donald Miller, it had an awkwardness about it that reminded me of The Office sometimes. I didn't get the Sunny D thing until Tripp said it was actually Tang that astronauts drank – that was good. The 5 questions with him was hilarious too – especially with that urethra diagram on the wall behind you the whole time.

    - Heard about "Wear It Wednesdays" and how it's "sweeping the nation" right now. Evidently it is the day of the week when Christians wear their Christian T-shirts to work and school in order to "share their witness." Really? It seems more like sharing with everyone else that you have this really important thing in your life, but you don't care enough to actually talk to them about it, but feel free to read my T-shirt if you want to. Ugh.

    - New things you can't do idea "Things you can't do when you're not at home"
    – Drinking straight from the milk carton
    – burping/breaking wind at will
    – shirtless
    – leaving the bathroom door open
    – I'm sure there's more…

    - Ooohhh… "Things you can't do when you're not Chuck Norris!" Everything about that idea says to me "instant classic"

Wow. Amazing idea. Don’t be surprised if you see us make that. We’ll give you credit of course.

        Awesome.

arbitrary thought #1: i have to admit, the longer it goes, the more I CAN'T WAIT for your answers to my ten questions . . .

Almanac of Humor: how about a Power Point slide show with snazzy transitions?

A friend have me a brochure for tennis lessons.

  • http://intensedebate.com/people/tylerstanton Tyler Stanton

Great question. I was wondering when someone would ask me that. It's part of a blog sponsorship deal.

I just drove through an intersection where there was a Wachovia on one corner and a SunTrust right across from them on the other corner. I could feel the tension.

The Almanac of Humor needs to work in some sort of temporary tattoos that you send out. OR…u could write them all over Tripp when he’s sleeping. Permanent marker must b used.

Breaking Bad is awesome. My wife almost stopped watching, until I gave her the play-by-play of the episode she missed where Walt is almost axed coming out of the shower. The show's never been better.

On the same lines with great cable TV like "Breaking Bad"… try "Sons of Anarchy" if you get a chance.
Yes… it's at times graphic, etc., but the story (along with Breaking Bad)… is captivating.

Just discovered your blog today – good stuff! By chance, I also renewed my subscription to Geez (www.geezmagazine.org) today, so there's a magazine recommendation for you.
