Arbitrary Thoughts
June 10th, 2010 - Uncategorized - 10 Comments »+ Bryan Allain put a video he made on his blog yesterday that left me speechless. The good kind of speechless. The kind of speechless where I was simultaneously holding back laughter and raging with jealousy that I didn’t discover this phenomenon first. Go watch it immediately.
+ All week long, my book is 50% off. So, for those of you who thought the Amazon price of $8.63 was too steep, how does $5.99 sound? Click here to buy one (or 10) and use the promo code RZBPJPEU when you check out. If you need some convincing, watch this.
+ We just got back last night from our trip to Disney. Overall, it was an incredible trip. For those of you brave enough to take your family this summer (or anytime for that matter), I’ve got a post in the works with some essential tips that you need. Coming soon.
+ Speaking of Disney, thanks for all the road trip tips. As I tweeted yesterday, our most played game ended up being “Try to find out where on the dash that hellacious rattle is coming from.” There were no winners. BTW, if you’re going on a road trip any time soon, check out all the comments on that post. They’re wonderful.
+ I’m thinking about getting an iPad. Those of you who have one – is it worth it?
+ Don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I have some new blog sponsors over to the right (namely, Beloved Virus, Josh LaFayette, The Church of No People, and Robert N. Susko). I’m working on a post for next week that highlights each of them and why you need to check them out. What the hey, why not go ahead and check them out now? Oh, and if you’re interested in sponsoring, let me know.
+ This Saturday I’ll be posting a 5 Questions You’ve Never Been Asked with…Me. When we were visiting the Allains last week, Bryan turned the tables on me and put me in the hot seat. It’s sure to be an embarrassment.

Thanks to the link to Bryan's post. That was really funny.
hate to break it to you tyler, but $5.99 is NOT 50% of $8.63. half off would make it $4.31. its a good thing you're funny, cause math's not your strong point :)
if it makes you feel any better, i did have to use a calculator to figure that out … and then i couldn't figure out the actual percentage. it was purely the grace of God (and the fact that i can cry on demand and bake hellagood brownies) that got me through algebra in college.
I was going off the $11.99 list price, you know, to sound better. If $4.31 is the price that it will take for you to buy one, I'll make it happen!
I just got my wife an iPad last week to replace her old iBook G4. The question of if it's worth it really comes down to what you need. Of course, if it comes down to what you want, then you're just looking for someone to enable you, right? ;-)
I find that it's pretty well between an iPhone and a netbook. If you're a casual computer user, it's already pretty perfect (though it can't yet handle Hulu). However, the app store is really strong and growing; so there's a lot you can do with it already that makes it almost as good as a regular laptop. For my wife, it's a decent laptop replacement, knowing that she can use mine if she needs to do recording in Garageband or composing in Finale.
Also, if you are going to get one, and aren't worried about the 3G model, my advice is not to skimp out; shell out the extra $100 for twice the hard drive space.
Hope that helps a little.
go to the Apple Store now and get it. I love mine, and I use it a lot. Let me know when you go to the Apple Store to get it. I may want to tag along.
dude, you talked me out of an ipad…
I may have changed my mind.
I'm working sound at Southwind I came around the same time you were at Disney.
so did you go to the harry potter world or was that in a different park?
That upcoming disney post will be much appreciated since we're hoping to terrorize that place in Oct. And, i would TOTALLY buy your book, but I think I'm gonna take my kids to DisneyWorld instead. However, if you provide a tip that will *undoubtedly* save me $6 on a Disney trip, then I will buy your book.
Oh, and please don't tell my supporters about the whole Disney thing… or that I'm buying your book. They're SUPER judgmental.
