Arbitrary Thoughts

+ A few weeks ago, I tweeted that my life had just changed. On Wednesday, I’ll tell you how. Make sure you check back then because I’m really wanting all of you to be involved.

+ After hearing a ton of people talk about it, I finally started watching Dexter yesterday. Ten minutes in, I was underwhelmed. Thirty minutes in, I decided I’d never miss another episode. It’s that good.

+ Two of the main comedic influences in my life are my younger brothers. You should follow them on Twitter: @stantonbryan and @kestanton.

+ Bryan Allain has been putting together a podcast called The Fresh Squeezed Podcast. Today he released the first episode. If you like hearing about the creative process of different creative people, you’ll love it. If you’re hoping to get a glimpse of his enormous schnoz, sorry…it’s an audio podcast.

+ Last year, I wrote a post about Male Accessories to Eliminate. I’ve noticed there’s been a lot of development since then, male-accessory-wise. What else needs to be eliminated?

Regarding your 5th point: Dudes gotta stop wearing the silly bandz.

Dexter is amazing. Be careful how you explain it to non-watchers. I once made this mistake and apparently some people aren't ok with a killer, even if he only kills bad people. You can tell which friends have done something to be on Dexter's list based on their reaction to your summary of an episode.

Male accessories that ought to go: Bracelets of the thread, yarn, or hemp variety. If you're not in college anymore, it's time to dump this in your scrapbook, gents.

On the bracelet: Agreed, with one caveat (ooh, big word!). These bracelets are acceptable for 30 days after you return from an overseas mission trip. Add 60 days if it was given to you by an indiginous child, with an an additional 30 for a relevant story.

That seems a reasonable caveat. Well played.

Couldn't agree more about Dexter my girlfriend said I should watch it because it was really good. I watched for a little bit and I was like "I guess it is o.k." then by another episode I was hooked! It is intense and very good. It was awesome because I had just started watching and the video store had the first three seasons so I was pumped. I had to wait for a couple months for season 4 to come out but now I am in a pickle because season 5 is coming out on Showtime but I don't have Showtime….will I wait? It will be a looooong time before it is out on DVD but after season 4 I can't wait to see it. I agree with Carlyn it is one of those things I have learned when explaining it to people since I am a Minister of Youth and Young Adults. You start telling about the premise of the show and I usually get one of two responses….1. That sounds pretty cool I might have to check that out 2. Blank stare wondering if I am secretly a serial killer and am coming out of the closest in a creative way….totally joking about number 2 but I have gotten some strange looks. To Keith BRAVO!!! I have been saying that as well for awhile now! I am like "Hey sir….yeah you the 45 year old guy with the fanny pack and the socks and sandals combo it is time to put the silly bandz away." Yes I know I know your kids gave them to you and like for you to wear them so wear them for a minute then give them back you're not fooling anyone we know you like them. You are probably the same guy who has bumper sticker on his car that says "my kid is an honor roll student at SouthEast Elementary" even though now your kid is a junior in high school.

Dexter is quality… I'm about to start season 3 on Netflix. I got spoiled because you can stream the first 2 seasons, but not seasons 3 or 4. Jerks at Netflix…

This was the cause of considerable angst in my household. We kept waiting and waiting for Season 3 to appear on instant play. Finally we just broke down and went the snail mail route. WORTH IT! Season 3 is awesome!

Dexter gets a lot better as a show as it progresses over seasons. Screen nerd explanation, the guys that are writing the scripts do much better with the concept of Dexter than the author of the books actually did. Once they stopped using his story lines it got a lot better.

Also, Season 4 is some of the best screen writing I've ever seen.

Just finished season 1 of Dexter. Me and my husband are hooked as well. I’ve got netflix so I’m with Dave- not sure how I’m gonna watch season 5… But I gotta see it. And I also agree that (as a pastors wife) you gotta be careful how you explain the show. It’s really quite a funny show. I love hearing the talking in his head.

    Dexter = AWESOME.

i watched dexter for the last 4 seasons. it sucks you in. amazing show. decided to give it up though, after murder was a main theme in all my dreams for weeks at a time. couldn't seem to clear my head.

We are completely addicted to Dexter.

The other night I dreamed I had to dispose of a body.

The Fresh Squeezed Podcast? I hope he picks football games better than podcast titles! Does Bryan even know the difference between an adjective and an adverb? Go Team Stanton!

P.S. I hope to win an award for the most irrelevant trash talking this season.
