Our New Site – ReluctantRunners.com
June 21st, 2011 - Uncategorized - 2 Comments »Today is the launch of our new running site, reluctantrunners.com. If you want to go ahead and check it out, click here. If you need a little more convincing before heading over there, I’ve conducted a brief interview to (hopefully) persuade you…
So, what is reluctantrunners.com?
It’s a site for people who love running – just not while they’re doing it.
You mind expounding on that?
It’s the antithesis of most running magazines you see out there. Instead of catering to the beautiful and hardcore running population, we focus on the rest of us – miserable runners who, more often than not, are running against their will.
What kind of stuff do you write about?
Important issues, such as whether or not you should run in place while waiting to cross the street, the socially acceptable length for male running shorts, and why you should avoid butt capes at all costs. Also, we’ll be highlighting song suggestions for your running playlist every Friday, as well as different gimmicks that motivate us.
Why create a website about all of this?
Two reasons. First, we want to create a community – a movement, if you will – of runners like us who, in spite of our dysfunctional relationship with running, band together and do it anyway.
What’s the other reason?
Training updates.
Training updates?
Um, yeah. Against our better judgment, we’ve committed to running the Atlanta Marathon in October. We’re going to be documenting our next five months of training.
No offense, but you guys are idiots.
That wasn’t a question.
Why the heck would you commit to running a marathon? I thought you were reluctant runners.
We’re setting out to prove that if we can do it, anyone can. Speaking of, want to run it with us?
I’ll never run a marathon.
That’s exactly what we said. Seriously, at least think about it. We can all do it together – and if it will make you feel better, we’ll all promise to hate every minute of it.
We’ll see. If I do decide to, where do I sign up?
Here. If you use the code “RELUCTANT$10″ when signing up, you get $10 off your registration fee. Also, make sure to select “reluctantrunners.com” when the form asks how you found out about the race.
How often are you guys going to post?
Three times a week.
How do I get more involved?
Subscribe to the site, leave some comments, like our Facebook page, give us feedback…and, most importantly, run with us.
You know what you should do? You should film a one-minute video that explains all of this for people who don’t like to read.
We did.
You should create a Nike+ challenge where we can all run against each other.
We did.
Well, um…you should give away free stuff every now and then.
Already planning on it.
Touché.
Are we done here?
I believe so. How do I get to that site again?
