Arbitrary Thoughts

+ I’m reading a book right now that Bryan Allain recommended to me called Moonwalking with Einstein. It’s about a guy who studies/researches the world’s best memorizers and, in the process, learns their tricks and becomes one of the world’s best himself. Sounds dorky, I know. But I’m FASCINATED by it. I wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone who wants to get better at memorizing anything – from speeches to scripts to facts to grocery lists.

+ Not sure what I’m more excited about: the new iPhone, or the new iOS5. Anyone else braving the lines tomorrow? Tripp and I will be there. Come hang out (we’ll tweet which store we’re at).

+ Speaking of Apple, did you see this?

+ Tripp and I did our last long run before the marathon yesterday. 20 hellacious miles. My legs literally gave out at mile 19. Like, I crumbled to the ground and couldn’t stand. Not the most uplifting showing going into the marathon.

+ Big thanks to Jon Acuff and Carlos Whittaker for posting about our Godz Bodz videos, here and here. Never hurts to get an endorsement from those guys. Oh, and a few of you have been asking when we’re going to post the other videos we showed at Catalyst. We have to keep a few of them under wraps for upcoming events, but trust me – no one wants to post them more than we do. So, as soon as we can, we will.

+ Did I mention you can get the Kindle version of my book for only $4.99 now? Oh, I did? Never mind. I’ll just leave this up here, but never mind. Don’t even worry about it.

+ Anyone see the Breaking Bad finale? Wow. Absolutely genius.

+ I know I don’t say it enough, but thanks for reading this blog. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t do it.

Good news- a long run that starts with "2" is a running milestone.
Bad news- in a marathon, mile 20 is the halfway point.

    Signed,
A guy who has boinked 2 out of 3 times and done the 6.2 mile Death March

That's both encouraging and discouraging. I feel neutral.

Loved, loved the Godz Bodz video. Hysterical. Looking forward to the other videos from Catalyst

Breaking Bad absolutely crushed it this year. What an finale. Even though it's not at all the cliffhanger like season 3's finale, I'm still just as on edge as I was then.

Put the book on my Amazon wish list. If not, I'd completely forget about it.

Saying that, maybe I should move that book to the top of my needs list.

When I ran my one and only marathon – I would've given anything to stop at mile 20…and 22…and 24. If someone had come along and offered me a ride, I would've taken it without hesitation – I would've thrown away all those months of training and all that effort to do the first 20+ miles and I would've quit. I was destroyed.

But, I wasn't given that opportunity. Thankfully. And when I did finish (walking & crying) it was easily one of the greatest moments of my life right behind salvation and marriage and the birth of my child. If I had known how I would feel at the finish line I would never have given a second thought to quitting.

I say this to be encouraging. You'll want to quit. You'll feel like death. But keep going and it will be an AMAZING accomplishment. The fact that Tripp's doing it with you will give you a surprising amount of strength. My team was the only thing that kept me on my feet instead of curling up in a ditch till someone rescued me. :)

You'll do fine. You'll get to the finish and say "that was it? I think I'll do another mile or two to cool down." Probably.

Just don't crap yourself, Tyler. There's no shame in finishing slowly. But there's a lot of shame in crapping yourself. Shame and internet immortality.

Your randoms, love of iStuff, actor-ish-ness, and creativity hooked me. I'll be following.

    Thanks for writing.

Being new to your blog, let me just stick to one comment, otherwise I'll be all over the place and I'll get removed from this awesome site before I get added!!!

Breaking Bad is insane. I'm not the type of person who enjoys commitment in the way of television. I don't want to HAVE to watch anything at 10pm every Sunday night, unless it's the playoffs!!!

That said, I've been out on medical leave recovering from surgery for the past 5 weeks, and actually watched all four seasons to get caught up to the on air season finale! Wow! Excellent writing! Best show on TV since Arrested Development! Intense twist in closing scene. Genius.

Oh, yeah, and love your site, too!
