Water Forward
November 9th, 2011 - Uncategorized - 33 Comments »Typically, this blog is a place where we gather around our common triviality and discuss (often at length) subjects that don’t matter. I love this. It’s the exact atmosphere I set out to create. I try really hard to only break that mold once a year to talk about something that really matters and, more specifically, ask something of you.
Last year it was 30/30/30.
This year, it’s Water Forward.
What is Water Forward? Check out this 2-minute video. It explains it better than I ever could. Also, check out the site.
I’m looking for 50 people to invite. That’s it. 50. Only criteria to be one of these 50 is that you must be willing to move this forward in some capacity. Use whatever platform you have (work, students, blog, family) to invite more people into this – could be 5 people, could be 500.
For those of you unfamiliar with the work charity: water does, their only agenda is giving clean water to people who don’t have it. Every penny goes to clean water. All of their overhead and miscellaneous costs are covered by private donors. I love this.
Last year we did the 30/30/30, which was awesome. We raised $11,474 and provided clean water to 573 people. I really think we can raise more this year through Water Forward and, ultimately, give more clean water to people who don’t have it.
So who’s in?
If you want one of the 50 invites, let me know in the comments. I’m going to send out all the invites through Facebook, so make sure we’re friends on there.
Can’t wait to see what happens with this.
