In keeping with tradition, I want to take a second this Thanksgiving week to reflect on the many trivial things in life that I’m thankful for. Of course, there are other things that really matter, but those don’t have a place on this site. Triviality reigns supreme here. So, without further ado…

Cassette adapter for iPod – The best option when you drive a car made in the 90s.

Big ketchup packets at Chick-fil-A – Dear every restaurant ever, please take note.

Instagram filters – Makes terrible photographers like myself a notch less terrible. (Let’s not overdo it though – you know who you are)

Explosions in the Sky – Best work music, period.

Starbucks iPhone app – Holding up my new iPhone to pay for a cup of gourmet coffee may be the most pretentious thing I do in life, but I love it.

Sam Adams – I think there’s a rule that once you visit their brewery, this has to be your favorite beer for at least a year.

Parenthood – The life role and, of course, the TV show.

Magazine subscriptions – Entertainment Weekly, MacLife, Fast Company and Mens Health. Just opening my mailbox and seeing a one in there is worth at least 80% of the subscription price.

Having a back cover – After more than a year of “For more, please visit tylerstanton.com” gracing my book’s back cover, it’s nice to finally be a step closer to legitimacy.
