Arbitrary Thoughts

June 9th, 2011 - Arbitrary Thoughts - 41 Comments »

+ I watched an awesome YouTube Q&A session with The Lonely Island last night. It’s the perfect way for you to spend those extra 43 minutes you have to spare this morning.

+ Two months ago I made the statement that I’d never run a marathon in my life. Well, things have changed. Tripp and I are officially running the Atlanta Marathon in October. Come join us.

+ Speaking of the marathon, we’re launching a new site about running in the next couple weeks. It’s for people who love running, just not while they’re doing it. We want to be a community/movement of people who suck at running, are miserable while doing it, but do it anyway – kind of the antithesis of the polished, beautiful and happy runners in Runner’s World magazine. Should be fun. We’ll be sure to let you know when it launches.

+ Anyone else watch the entire two-hour WWDC keynote? Incredible.

+ Bryan Allain interviewed me yesterday for his BlogRocket community. Really hoping he edits out the 19,000 “um”s that I managed to squeeze into an hour. If you’re not a part of the community, you should really try it out for a few months. And for the price of something that costs $10 (or two things that cost $5 each), it’s totally worth it.

+ I realized this week that I loathe the phrase “super pumped”, as in “I’m super pumped to be here.” Am I alone in this?

+ Still accepting ideas for Tripp’s Twitter hack. Keep ‘em coming.

+ Today’s giveaway question is for those of you with blogs. I’ll pick a winner at random to receive a copy of one of my favorite books (and a perfect book for bloggers), War of Art by Steven Pressfield.

What is your favorite post you’ve written in the last few months? Give us a link and a one sentence description.

And don’t just comment and leave – share the love and check out some of these other posts.

My favorite post I've written lately is "4 Reasons She Didn't Accept Your Friend Request." Though the title is self explanatory, it is basically a how-to on how to not be a creeper.

I may be pre-qualified to join the runner's club. If I'm having a crappy day lifting in the gym, I can just stop. If I'm on a terrible run, it's a long way back to the car before the ordeal is over.

Co-sign on "super-pumped" though I may use it from time to time when I feel flustered.

    • Tyler Stanton

Yeah, I was actually the one who said it when I noticed how awful it is.

So, what alternative do you use to "super pumped"? Tickled pink?

    • Tyler Stanton

"Excited" and "Really Excited" seem to be effective. "Stoked" is borderline, but still a viable option.

You have quickly become the most random person I've ever heard of. I can't even think of who you replaced because your sporadic mind has eclipsed whoever they were.

Can I just say that I am psyched about the running site? That's the website I pretend I am looking at while I look at the actual running sites in existence.

The running site is a great idea. I love the idea of running. I just loathe the process.

Everything about this post is awesome. Can't wait to check out the Lonely Island interview, the running site sounds great (and right up my alley), great WWDC Keynote, and although I use it from time to time, I hate the term "super pumped."

My favorite post of recent involves an 18 hour train ride in the middle of Russia on my own. I think of it as a perfect opportunity to blend in and not appear like a foreigner. It fails.
